Gypsy Glen K-9 Kastle was built on real-world canine experience that goes far beyond traditional boarding. Before opening the facility, our founder played a key role in developing working K9 programs and handling highly trained dogs in demanding environments.

From law enforcement to specialized detection work, this background shaped the structured, disciplined, and attentive care we provide every day.

Helped establish the McHenry County K9 police unit

Worked with arson detection dogs identifying accelerants for the Illinois State Fire Marshal

Raised and trained dogs that were donated to the Maine State Police program

Successfully trained and placed working dogs, including two raised right here in McHenry County

Assisted in solving an international jewel-related crime using trained detection dogs

In addition to boarding, we offer wellness services including biofeedback, acupressure, and aromatherapy. These services are available for dogs, cats, and even larger animals such as horses and livestock. Margaret, part of our family team, is certified in acupressure, biofeedback, and aromatherapy and brings a holistic approach to animal care both on-site and through select in-home services.

A Comfortable Country Setting

Located in McHenry, our facility offers a peaceful, spacious setting that allows pets to relax while still enjoying fresh air and movement. Dogs receive regular outdoor time in secure runs, and cats stay in comfortable, separate accommodations designed specifically for them. We also accommodate certain small and exotic pets with individualized care plans.

Our environment is calm, organized, and intentionally designed to reduce stress. Pets thrive on structure, and we maintain consistent feeding schedules, exercise times, and daily care routines to help them settle in quickly.
